So, you’ve got your tickets sorted, your Hayya Card is fired up – what are the best game day eats in Doha During FIFA World Cup 2022? I’ve tried to give fans and foodies a range of options across the city and also placed them in their proximity to the nearest stadium…
A few words of advice! Be sure to book ahead, reservations for bars and restaurants at hotels are essential at the moment and bring your ID. Also, try to get out and about to enjoy Qatar’s lively food scene.
Enjoy!
The burgers at The Score
This spacious and well appointed West Bay sports bar at the Pullman is earning plaudits for its cut above the rest food menu. The pulled BBQ pulled beef burger comes highly recommended by this foodie as does the out of the box tuna tartare.
Closest stadium: 974

Loaded Nachos at Public House
It may be giving retro diner vibes, but these nachos are a thing of 2022 beauty. Technically shareable, this is so amped up you’re going to want to keep it for yourself. Save room for the lobster roll. Open from 7am for breakfast. Call ahead.
Closest stadium: Lusail

Ramen at Ninja Ramen
November and December are the cooler months in Qatar, so a steaming bowl of the best ramen in Doha is a great way to fortify yourself for a “chilly” night game. I love the almost creamy tori patan ramen with extra chicken and the spicy green onion. Cheap and cheerful, ramen is from QR35. Bookings essential! There is also a branch at Doha al Jadeed Metro station.
Nearest stadium: 974; Thumama and at a stretch Al Janoub

Arepas at Doha Roastery
OK this one requires a little more coordination but worth the Uber, believe me. Come to Doha Roastery on Salwa Road for the pre-game coffee and stay for the lush Venezuelan arepas (from QR35) made in house. These are pocket friendly and hearty – sure to ready you for a long match! Open 24 hours, their Salwa Road branch also has cachapas – filled with traditional white cheese.
Nearest stadium: Khalifa stadium

Polish dumplings/Pierogi at Polka
Made with cheese, and a little bit of magic, these little parcels of goodness (QR40) are the perfect pre-game carb loading activity. Located in Madinat Khalifa, you should also check out the hefty and cheesy Zapikanka (polish pizza from QR40). Whatever you order, this place will have you dancing all the way to the stadium.
Nearest stadiums: Education City

SHAWARMA!
It would be negligent of me not to include the staple street food of this country – shawarma! Beef, chicken, lamb and even vegan – you can get it here. Asking me to name my favorite place is like asking me to name my favorite ABBA song. Impossible! Earlier this year I embarked on a quest to find the best of the best though – check the video below and the caption for my recommendations.
Nearest Stadiums: Most of them!
Chicken 65 at Krossroads Al Wakra
There are a plethora of eateries in Al Wakra, but this is where you an get a drink and some very good food. The chicken 65 is one of many solid dishes on the menu which also includes pizzas and other shareables. But I love the spicy kick in this dish and it pairs beautifully with a cold beer.
Nearest stadium: Al Janoub

While you are here…
So there are my suggestions for the seven Best Game Day Eats in Doha During FIFA World Cup 2022. But here are some other ideas:
- For where to drink and watch the games, read my post here.
- Are you getting my weekly Life on the Wedge newsletter? Sign up here.
- Direct from London Sri Lankan sensation Hoppers will open in Msheireb in November.
- Thank you to ITP Live for naming me on the essential influencers to follow in Qatar for the World Cup.
- Al Maha Island is promising to deliver some big name international brands to Doha. Including zuma, Beef Bar and Carbonne. These are popups but will add another level to the dining scene here.
- Aura Group, who are behind the above brands, plan to bring a whopping 36 new venues to Doha.
- This one has me excited. Rixos Gulf is on the beach spot of the old Gulf hotel and has some serious F&B presence on board.
