Rambol is a well known cheesemaker from France. This cheese included layers of crushed and pureed walnuts. A creamy white cheese as its base, it was like a taste of Autumn (in December).

A Room With a View – Four Days in Florence
When I stepped off the plane in Florence last month, it dawned on me that it had almost been 20 years to the day since I was last in this city. Why I left it so long, I have no idea. But 20 years later I was back – older, a bit wealthier, better dressed but in no way wiser. I had originally planned to visit Rome. But then saw that thanks to Qatar Airways joining One World, I could now book a flight straight through to Florence with a short stop in Rome. I’m relieved to say the city hasn’t changed. Fromage to Eternity
As we slide (or stagger) into the business end of the year, I find myself looking for distractions. I like my Mozzarella white and of the Buffalo kind and I found this fairly good interpretation in the dairy cabinet at my local supermarket. While not exactly fresh, it was creamy and the perfect addition to my grand Italian plan. Friends know that I have somehow rediscovered or unearthed my latent…

Romy With a View aka Eating Cheese Like an Egyptian
Egypt is known for many things – the pyramids, the Pharaohs, the Nile and dodgy souvenirs. It’s not necessarily known for it’s cheeses. But, there is evidence of the ancient Egyptians making cheese more than 4000 years ago. So it is true, the ancient Egyptians invented everything…even cheese. This said, I was more than a little excited when checking into my hotel, the Four Seasons First Residence in Cairo this weekend, to discover a cheese platter complete with a sample of Romy, also known as “Egyptian Parmesan”. In Egypt and Middle East people know this cheese as Romy Cheese or Gebnah Romy while in Alexandria it is known as gebnah…
