Take out Tuesday

Take Out Tuesday – Wagamama Remix and Korean Fried Chicken

It’s Take Out Tuesday again and this week and we are trying an old favorite and a new, delicious take on fried chicken. What’s not to love about that?

Wagamama

I made a very cool discovery this week, I can order Wagamama through Snoonu. Previously this favorite had been out of my delivery zone, so it was very, very welcome. Wagamama never disappoints and I’m pleased to say the dishes travel well including perennial favorite Chicken Katsu and the vegan Yaki Soba. We also opted for the Korean Beef – just the right amount of spice. For starters you can’t go past the spicy calamari as well as the generous and chili laden Bang Bang Chicken.

A first for me this order was the Tochigi Curry – a rich and fragrant turmeric and coconut based curry that’s a bit like a warm hug. Sweet finales include banana katsu served with a scoop of salted caramel ice-cream and a chili toffee and ginger sauce. The even better news is Wagamama Qatar have their new Summer menu launching soon. Thank you to Wagamama and Snoonu for sending this.

Qokio

I think we’re familiar enough with Korean food to know that Korean Fried Chicken is frankly the superior KFC. Qokio, part of the Yee Hwa empire, serves up Korean style fried chicken in both boneless and traditional format starting at QR36/42 for half and QR68/82 for a whole chicken. You can chose a half or a full chicken as well as your sauced or dry spice . This time I tried the honey garlic butter which was sticky, tangy and just sweet enough, but my usual order is the spicy sauce.

You can also get the original Korean style chicken as well as spiced with a spicy curry or snow cheese powdery topping on the side. I suggest you also explore the other offerings on the menu, many of which are based on Korean street food classics. Kimbap (Korean maki rolls) start at QR15 and Korean hotdogs QR15. I always order the moreish fries topped with beef bulgogi. fun offbeat and very tasty. They have two locations – Doha Souq Mall in Al Nasr St and The Palms Mall in Muaither. FYI I paid for this myself. Available on all platforms including Snoonu.
