I used to be a festive season skeptic – bah humbug and all of that.
But since moving from Australia to the Middle East 10 years ago, I’ve come to embrace it and all its’ incarnations. Maybe it’s the distance from home. Maybe it’s my age (cough) giving me a new sentimental tinge.
This year is different.
My father is joining me in Doha for the festive season next month, and I have already warned him I will be totally in the spirit. I may even buy him a crazy festive sweater. It’s our first festive season since my mother passed away in July. Mum, a fantastic cook, always made a real feast. Our table heaved with seafood, roast beef and other delicious dishes.
I’m going to try and make this festive season extra special for my father.
What I also love the most about this period in Doha is not just the emphasis on food and togetherness – but the celebration of diversity. I’m looking forward to showcasing this to my father this year.
So when IKEA Qatar approached me to be part of their #FeedYourInspiration Qatar campaign for the festive season, I was immediately hooked.
And even better, I get to form my own “team” of readers and followers to take the journey with me and help them share their own foodie inspirations for the season
The campaign is a journey that ends with the potential for one of my followers to win a QR5000 voucher from IKEA Qatar.
So, join my team exploring the best festive side dish out there for the holidays. You can suggest anything it as long as it has an Arabic flavor. I have a couple of ideas already, but I want to hear from you.
You must upload your dish suggestion and photo on a special website: http://www.feedyourinspiration.qa
Remember my team is looking for Arabic style side dishes – I have a few in mind already! Big hint – they have cheese in them…
Don’t forget to share your ideas with me on my on my instagram @rachelannmorris71 or my Twitter @lifeonthewedge using the hashtags #FeedYourInspiration and tag @IKEAQATAR
The person who makes the best suggestion is in the draw for winning the whopping QR5000 voucher from IKEA. And you will also have your dish cooked by IKEA’s fabulous chefs at a special gathering in December.
I’m already looking forward to what you have to share!
Now my mind is working overtime! This sounds great Rachel. Can’t wait to see all the Arabic inspired festive dishes.
